Steps
- 1Select and pre-chill an Old Fashioned glass.
- 2Prepare a garnish of orange zest twist.
- 3Stir the rye whiskey, bittersweet aperitivo, sweet vermouth, amaro, and cherry bitters with ice.
- 4Strain into the ice-filled glass, preferably over a large cube or chunk of block ice.
- 5Express the orange zest twist over the cocktail and drop in a cocktail cherry.
- 6Smoke the drink, ideally with cherry wood, before serving.
