Wormwood bitter liqueur

An intensely, almost punishingly bitter Swedish-style baesk liqueur flavored with wormwood -- the kind of thing bars hand out as a dare more than a drink. Distinct from absinthe, which leans anise-forward; this leans purely, aggressively bitter.
